Job Information

Saunders Landscaping is looking to hire a full-time skid steer operator for our 2021 Landscape season (approx. mid-April, weather dependent). Our crews work Monday-Friday, and occasional Saturdays. Most of the jobs will be on commercial construction sites; however, there will be some residential jobs.

The position starts at $25.00/hour, however, advancement is possible if you display a strong work ethic.

You must be able to drive to site(s) daily, have a hard hat, and steel toed boots. Gloves are also recommended. All sites require that workers must wear long pants and shirts that cover shoulders at all times. (no shorts or tank tops).

Sites are located in Calgary and surrounding areas. *Please note that not all sites are accessible by public transit**

Responsibilities:

  • Perform equipment inspections.
  • Perform assigned work on schedule, and as directed.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner while avoiding damage to company and other property.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of landscaping, such as fine grading and spreading of topsoil.
  • Conduct work in accordance with OH&S requirements.
  • Be prepared to assist crews with physical tasks if skid steer work is completed onsite.

What you need to be considered:

  • Require a minimum of 5 years experience operating skid steers.
  • Must be able to operate both track and tire equipment safely and professionally.
  • Ability to communicate with crew members, foreman, and other trades.
  • Ability to prioritize work in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good eye/hand coordination.
  • Physical ability to handle prolonged sitting, jostling in the cab and getting in and out of a skid steer.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable, punctual, possess a positive attitude, and a team player.
  • Other construction and safety training considered an asset.
